berrybutter.com Tips for Healthy & Radiant Skin

1. Commit to a twice daily regimen - Cleanse your face every morning and night. In the morning, you are washing off the residue of the cell renewal process, which occurs primarily at night. In the evening, you're cleansing off the day's effects on your skin, including exposure to pollution, sun, and wind.

2. Moisture up! – Even those with oily or combination skin need to moisturize. So drink up! Water is hydration for your skin inside and out. Drink at least 6 glasses per day to reveal beautiful, healthy, and hydrated skin. Don’t forget the unrefined Shea butter. It won’t clog your pores and it’s probably the best moisturizer available. And it’s natural!

3. Be gentle- Always use a light touch on your face. If you're used to rubbing your face or eyes vigorously (if you have allergies, itchy eyes or sensitive skin) you could be aggravating a condition. The skin on your face is very delicate, and the skin under your eyes is the most delicate of all! Never rub under your eyes. If they itch, try a cold compress or washcloth to relieve them.

4. Exercise your Organ- Cardiovascular excercise and strength training exercises burn fat and help tone the body. Perspiring releases toxins from the pores that could otherwise cause breakouts. You may notice younger looking eyes and firmer skin.

5. Your skin is what you eat- Avoid foods high in sugar like sodas and candy to stay clear of breakouts. And don’t forget about the rest of the body; you may have noticed acne on your other parts. Sugar is also a good one to avoid if you’re slimming down for summer.

6. Feed your Face- Foods like avocados, peaches, mangos, and almonds contain skin rejuvenating nutrients like niacin, vitamin A, vitamin E, and riboflavin.

7. Don’t skimp on the Zzz’s- Cell repair and regeneration performed by the body's systems happens when you are at rest. Hence the term, "beauty sleep". Find the right sleep balance for you by tracking how you feel after 4-6 hours rest versus 6-8 hours rest over a weeks period. When you feel your best for an extended period, that may be the right amount of sleep for you. Another tip, wind down a bit before bed so you can fall asleep easily and rest completely.

8. Hands OFF! - Our hands come in contact with all sorts of germs and bacteria. Transferring them onto the face and into the skin may cause infection, breakout or rash. And remember, picking scabs and popping pimples is a no-no to keep the skin from scarring.

9. Reveal flawless possibilities- Shea butter is a great treatment to lighten acne scars and other dark areas.. Use twice a day on dry or blemished areas. It’s also high in omega 3 fats which are essential for the body. Omega 3’s improve the elasticity and moisture quality of the skin.

10. No lipstick on the pillow- Did you know that you age your skin 27 days every time you don't wash off accumulated dirt, makeup and environmental "stuff" at night? Remove your makeup thoroughly, wash with a gentle foaming cleanser, apply toner or astringent if necessary, and put on a good night cream to absorb in the skin for a fresh, supple face in the morning.

11. Smoking and caffeine cause dry skin- Tests show that caffeine has no direct effect on your skin, but it does deplete water from the body. Smoking decreases circulation so the skin doesn't get as much oxygen--which is essential in creating and maintaining healthy skin cells and youthful skin. In addition, the repetitive eye squinting and pursing of the lips while you smoke can cause premature wrinkling around the eyes and the mouth.

Hope this was helpful!
